presence & voice coaching
Ready to be outstanding on stage – the importance of stage presence
Stage presence can, quite simply, be a defining factor in an actors/ dancer, musician, speaker… success. When combined with skill, experience, joy and pleasure, stage presence can create a combination that turns “good” actors, musicians, dancers… into stars.
connect with the audience
Essentially, a good stage presence pulls the audience into the performance, whatever performance that might be. It’s the ability to make the audience connect with the performer and as a result envelop them in the story being told,
about Nicole Kehrberger
“I always loved to move my body and therefore I could never sit still”-
Nicole passed her childhood and youth with figure skating and dance (classic, modern and tap dance), later she got into horse riding.
After her music and voice studies, Nicole followed again her great wish to move and did a dance education. Due to her dream to fly, she studied circus skills and became an aerial artist. Since she did not feel totally satisfied, she than studied acting.
At 20 years old Nicole startet teaching movement. Besides her coaching and teaching activity for stage professionals over the past 30 years around the globe, she taught voice at the Scuola Dimitri in Switzerland and movement and acting at the Ecole Philippe Gaulier in London and Paris for 13 years. In 2011 Nicole Kehrberger established the International Theater Summer School in Berlin. Today her teaching and coaching activity operates under the name NK onstage.
Nicole has a long lasting experience as an award winning actress, acrobat, aerial artist and dancer on international stages and she combines all those disciplines in her teaching.
During the quest for the individual beauty, she tosses etiquette, theories, styles and masks into the wind. In every person she searches for his candidness, vulnerability and his fragility, which contributes to the discovery of an open, inventive, joyful and individual presentation.
acting and any kind of performance on stage starts with the body
For Nicole stage work starts with the body: “the physical sensitivity, vulnerability and the presence on stage form an essential basis for an outstanding performance.”
over the past 30 years, Nicole created her own teaching program
Nicole about her teaching:
“I feel very pleased of having worked as an actress and dancer, aerial artist and teacher in the whole world. Throughout the past 30 years I developed my own teaching method connecting my knowledge from all stage disciplines with what I have learned about how to be outstanding on stage.
Be outstanding on stage, what ever stage that might be
I teach people who want to widen their horizons, their experiences, who want to recharge their batteries and get a very personal, physical, unconventional and extremely joyful approach to their acting/ performing, and who wants to make the difference. Be outstanding on stage, what ever stage that might be.
For me, acting starts with the body therefor every days lesson starts with an intense movement training of about 1- 1,5 hours. This training is specially designed for the following class and is an indispensable part of the workshop.
Elements of acrobatics- partner and single (everybody, no matter which age or size, can do it, because we work with everybody s personal needs and limits), awareness-training, energetic dance, stretching- and relaxation exercises, group work, Pilates, Shiatsu and Feldenkrais are part of this training.
What people say about her work:
She reignited my confidence and belief in myself and enlightened my perspective as an actor. I basically learned to have fun again. And whenever I am working and I feel stuck I always refer back to what Nicole taught me. She’s simply brilliant. I feel very lucky to have worked with her..’
…I wouldn’t be what I am as performer and director if there hadn’t been Nicole.“
Marco, actor and director, Italy
„Nicole s workshops contain a highly physical training (Yes, real sweat! But don’t worry, you don’t have to be an acrobat) and approach, but are not to be confused with “physical theatre” as a genre. She is a wonderfully demanding teacher with an enormous capacity of observing, identifying and working on the strong and weak points of every single participant, with joy/fun as an essential buddy of the work. Her strength lies in focusing on sensitivity, awareness and truthfulness in action and interaction. So, it’s not about techniques in the first place, but on YOU in your uniqueness as a performer.“
Anne, director, Germany
Nicole is one of the best and enjoyable teachers I’ve ever had. Whether it comes to theatre or acrobats, she makes every day, and every hour interesting, fun, diverse, and powerful. The lessons I’ve learned from Nicole will stay with me for many years, and I will always remember her not only as a teacher, but as a great, and totally honest friend. If anyone can have the opportunity to have a class with her, I would tell them they are lucky and enjoy every minute of it. she’s awesome.
